SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

IMPORTANT:
This product if in skin contact, can cause an allergic reaction, usually manifested in a rash. The HARDENER is slightly corrosive and will cause immediate skin irritation. Therefore we recommend the use of safety equipment:
- Disposable gloves (provided) should be worn at all times.
- Full body cover is recommended (overalls or long sleeve garments).
- Avoid contact with eyes. Safety glasses are recommended.

WHAT TO DO
Rinse and scrub area affected thoroughly, with soap and water. Ensure no further contact occurs. If the irritation does not clear up or becomes inflamed or painful see a doctor immediately.

PREPARATION is vitally important for a successful floor painting project. This includes cleaning the surface and filling holes, joints and cracks.

Our range of preparation products enables you to achieve the best possible surface prior to applying EPOXY FLOORCOAT
CONCRETE FLOORPREP
is an essential ingredient to achieve this goal.
A doubly powerful concrete floor preparation developed for the removal of contamination on garage floors.
Dissolves grease & oil while etching the concrete surface in one action!
Just mix to the required chemical strength indicated on the chart and follow the preparation instructions for a well prepared surface.

When the floor is clean and dry:

EPOXYPATCH 1:1 Easymix
Gap filling, pregelled epoxy concrete patching adhesive.
Suitable for patching & joint filling. Concrete coloured. A smooth, creamy paste which applies easily with a trowel. Self priming. Slightly flexible.

PLEASE read ALL instructions carefully before commencing

DAY 1
PREPARATION
Existing Floors (painted)
1. Scrub and rinse existing floors using a mild CONCRETE FLOORPREP solution. Dishwashing liquid in warm water is also fine.
2. Allow to dry and sand old paint, it is not necessary to remove it all, but it needs to be sanded back to a sound surface (no flaking paint). A hand rotary orbital sander with coarse paper (40-60 grit) is ideal.
HINT: Ensure CONCRETE FLOORPREP solution is completely rinsed away and paint is sound as residual solution under loose paint will cause problems.
CAUTION if the floor area has been used for car grooming, there will be silicone in the surface which will impair satisfactory adhesion. In this case the only remedy is to have the surface removed by diamond grinding. (See the yellow pages under “Concrete cleaning”)

New Concrete
Recent Concrete should be allowed to cure for 28 days.
Curing compounds and sealers must be removed from the surface. They are generally a weak polymer, which will cause interfacial adhesion problems. In this case the only remedy is to have the surface removed by diamond grinding. (See the yellow pages under “Concrete cleaning”)
HINT: Test for curing compounds & sealers by pouring clean water onto the concrete surface. If it wets out proceed to the next step. If it beads on the concrete, this generally indicates a sealed surface.
Efflorescence (surface salt deposits on new concrete) will be removed by the following procedure.
1. Etch the surface with CONCRETE FLOORPREP. Spot scrub contaminated areas first. Remove with high pressure water and re-spot if necessary.
Make up balance as indicated on chart & sprinkle on or broom over the floor at the rate of 3-4 litres per square metre. Use a stiff nylon bristle broom & scrub in well. The concrete will go a darker colour.
Before mix has dried remove by flushing liberally with high pressure water.
Allow surface to dry thoroughly over-night is preferable.

CAUTION Wear protective gloves, eye wear, and clothing. Always add CONCRETE FLOORPREP to water. Do not allow CONCRETE FLOORPREP or rinse water to go under skirting.
HINT: It doesn't hurt to not etch right to the wall, as the wall area is not affected by heavy traffic.
HINT: If available and practical, use a leaf blower to remove all loose dust. Vacuum in corners, along joints and along edges.

DAY 2
SET UP
Place a clean drop cloth (disposable blue tarp) on an area of floor that allows you to access the work site, and also egress the building. Cover carpet that leads to the work site. Protect the walls in the immediate vicinity.
Recommended two person job; one cutting in, one rolling.

Wear vinyl gloves throughout the painting process. Assuming the floor is now rinsed and thoroughly dry.
Sweep or vacuum clean again, to remove dry or loose debris.
OPTIONAL Fill all joints, hairline cracks and indents with a small amount of EPOXYPATCH gap filler.
Using a wide blade paint scraper, fill joints and cracks sideways, then wipe flush with floor surface.

HINT: Don't stand on joints while applying paint.

1. Thoroughly stir Resin (Part A) with stir stick provided (or if available, a power drill).
2. Ensuring the lid is securely attached, vigorously shake Hardener (Part B).
3. Pour equal quantities of the stirred Resin (Part A) and shaken Hardener (Part B) into a disposable bucket.
HINT: Wipe the rim of the pails to minimize mess, and have an open kleensak handy.
HINT: Eyeball the Resin & Hardener pails, side by side, to ensure you get the mixing ratios correct.
HINT: Use small amounts (not the whole lot) as once mixed the pot life is only 20 - 30 minutes.

CAUTION : IF YOU DO NOT COMBINE & STIR THOROUGHLY, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE CURED PAINT
SOFT SPOTS, HAZINESS AND STICKY PATCHES. This is an application error, not a problem with the paint!

4. Add 10 - 15% of the FLOORCOAT SOLVENT. This will make paint application easier.
5. Stir thoroughly with stir stick or power drill if available, until completely combined. (Approx. 1 minute)
6. Cut in along the walls and any places the roller will not reach using the paint brush provided.
7. Once cutting in is advanced, rolling can commence.
HINT: To speed the process pour mixed paint from the bucket in a thin line across the floor about 1 metre from the back wall, and roll the paint on working backwards towards your exit point. Estimate usage so the paint goes the full distance.
HINT: A good quality 6 - 8mm roller sleeve is recommended. Vacuum off loose nap before use.

Work quickly as paint will begin to gel after 20 -30 minutes and become unworkable.

8. When the paint runs out repeat steps 3 - 6 with the balance of the paint, and continue.

CLEANING Use the balance of the FLOORCOAT SOLVENT and rinse water. Clean brush and roller vigorously followed by warm soapy water and rinsing.
HINT: Brush and roller can be disposed of as cleaning is arduous and a new set is provided in each pack.

DAY 3
TOP COAT
1. Scuff floor with coarse 60 grit sandpaper. Use a rotary orbital power sander if available.
The scuff is only to remove nibs and should not show through to the concrete surface.
2. Sweep or vacuum clean.
3. Mix up paint as previously mentioned in DAY 2 instructions.
4. Cut in again around the edges using the brush provided.
5. Roll the floor as on previous day. This coat will flatten better for a finer finish.
6. Allow overnight cure before light foot traffic.
Keep cars off for 2 - 3 days to allow full hardening.
HINT: Ensure the top coat is applied the following day. Both coats will chemically bond when applied within 24 hours.

FLOORCOAT NON SLIP Application Instructions

This is a general method for applying a non slip coating using the Non Slip Grit supplied in the pack.
Non Slip coatings are advisable around transitional areas where surface water can affect pedestrian safety.
At the front of the garage through to the internal entrance, etc. FLOORCOAT in its own right is relatively Non Slip. The down side of using Non Slip over the entire garage floor is it is more difficult to clean.
1. As you roll out the top coat backwards, lightly sprinkle the Non Slip Grit and re-roll the surface.
Re-rolling distributes the Grit evenly and coats it so there is no colour variation. The GRIT should only just show through. If the Grit vanishes into the paint surface it indicates you are applying FLOORCOAT too thickly.
HINT: Plan your top coating so the gritted roller is only used for Non Slip areas which should be coated last.
Dispose of the roller which will be too hard to clean.

YOU WILL REQUIRE
EPOXY FLOORCOAT for the job. Available in 4 litre packs. One pack covers approximately 32 - 40 sq. metres.
Ensure you choose the same colour packs. Tinting available to your colour choice.

CONCRETE FLOORPREPOne 4 litre pack will be sufficient for preparing the average double garage with only moderate oil spotting. Purchase 2 packs if contamination is greater.
EPOXYPATCH gap filling compound. A 1 litre pack will be sufficient. The balance, if any, is shelf stable & can be used for other filling/mending jobs around the home.
